Mouse arcuate POMC neurons — maternal HFD (RiboTag)
Mus musculus · Arcuate nucleus · RiboTag (translatome)
Selected data and study scope
This dataset contains RiboTag (translatome) data from Mus musculus, sampled from arcuate nucleus. The default comparison examines gene expression in HFD · P21 relative to Chow · P21.
The POMC-neuron RiboTag data cover both maternal diets, chow and high-fat diet, at birth (P0) and weaning (P21). The explorer compares maternal diets at each age and P0-to-P21 maturation within each diet arm.
The explorer includes 1 track and 4 comparisons for this dataset. 2 comparisons are marked exploratory because they were not run in the source study.
The default track, Arcuate POMC neurons (RiboTag), includes 3 Chow · P21 samples and 4 HFD · P21 samples in this comparison. These are analysis sample counts. Check the source for biological replication and pooling.
Interpretation and limitations
The source study emphasizes maturation within each diet arm. Comparisons between maternal diets at a fixed age are explicitly exploratory reanalyses. Here, limma-trend refits the deposited normalized CPM values. That fit does not reproduce the source study's raw-count edgeR analysis.
This preparation profiles ribosome-associated RNA from the targeted cells. Treat the result as a translatome measurement. It does not represent total RNA from every cell in the anatomical region.
Expression values use a log2-normalized scale. They are not raw counts or CPM. Check this study's preprocessing before comparing them with other datasets.
Evidence and verification
Pipeline QC passed. Mouse arcuate POMC neurons — maternal HFD (RiboTag); all 4 registered contrasts on default track pomc
Experimental design review needed. Mouse arcuate POMC neurons — maternal HFD (RiboTag); all 4 registered contrasts on default track pomc
Author concordance not assessed. Author effect concordance has not been assessed
Pipeline QC can pass while experimental-design limitations remain. Read both assessments before interpreting results.
Open the dataset in the Explorer to read each check and its evidence. Author concordance compares effects for matched genes. It does not require identical author P values or FDR.

Source study
Offspring arcuate POMC-neuron translatome (RiboTag), maternal chow vs high-fat diet at P0 and P21 — the 2×2 design browsable as four contrasts: the maternal-diet effect at each age separately (exploratory; not contrasts the source study ran) and the study's own P0→P21 maturation axis per diet arm. Comparisons in HypoExplorer
Maternal HFD vs chow · at P0
Exploratory simple effect from the 2×2, not a contrast from the source paper: maternal HFD vs chow among newborn (P0) offspring only, 5 vs 5 libraries. Fitted as a cell-means contrast with the residual variance pooled across all 17 libraries (limma-trend).
This exploratory comparison is a reanalysis. The source study did not run it.
Maternal HFD vs chow · at P21 · default
Exploratory simple effect from the 2×2, not a contrast from the source paper: maternal HFD vs chow among weaning-age (P21) offspring only, 3 vs 4 libraries. Fitted as a cell-means contrast with the residual variance pooled across all 17 libraries (limma-trend).
This exploratory comparison is a reanalysis. The source study did not run it.
P21 vs P0 · chow arm (maturation)
The source study's own axis: the P0→P21 maturation trajectory within the maternal-chow arm (3 vs 5 libraries), re-fit here with limma-trend on the deposited CPM rather than the paper's pipeline. Compare against the HFD arm's trajectory — the paper's finding is that maternal HFD enlarges it.
P21 vs P0 · HFD arm (maturation)
The source study's own axis: the P0→P21 maturation trajectory within the maternal-HFD arm (4 vs 5 libraries), re-fit here with limma-trend on the deposited CPM rather than the paper's pipeline. More genes move here than in the chow arm, the direction the paper reports as gestational malprogramming.
Positive differential-expression values indicate higher expression in the case group relative to the baseline. Check the comparison direction and study design when interpreting results.
